POKERSTARS LAUNCHES ITALIAN POKER TOUR
Big names like PokerStars and Poker tours have already become staple regulars for all poker fans, and this is about to get stronger as they have just announced an Italian Poker Tour. The aim of launching the Italian Poker Tour is for PokerStars to further strengthen its dominance on the online and live poker scene.
PokerStars, the world's largest online poker card room , have now officially announced the launch of yet another region-based tournament series: the Italian Poker Tour! The series are set to bring top poker action to some of the most beautiful locations in Italy. The Italian Poker Tour will kick off in the Italian Riviera city San Remo from 1-7 June, 2009. San Remo has already proven it's a popular place for poker players, as it it hosted a record breaking field at this year's European Poker Tour stop there.
Last week, PokerStars announced the launch of the tour in collaboration with its sponsored Italian professional, Luca Pagano who has done much to bring poker onto the map in Italy.
In a press release, the Manager for PokerStars in Italy, Fabio Angeli Bufalini said: "PokerStars is really happy with the developments in live and online poker in Italy. The great success has been registered on the PokerStars.it website and the record breaking turnout for the San Remo leg of the PokerStars Season 5 EPT makes us hopeful that the PokerStars Italian Poker Tour will arouse huge interest in Italy and all over Europe." The competition will run for six days, before a champion is finally crowned.
In the days leading up to the Italian Poker Tour, PokerStars held exciting satellites at its Italian site, where buy ins were available for as little as 5 Euro. On Friday night, the site gave away 10 San Remo packages in a 100 Euro buy in event.
Linking with Luca Pagano should give the Italian Poker Tour the boost it needs. This player has been particularly successful in the European Poker Tour, also run by PokerStars,
Meanwhile, PokerStars has also sent a strong delegation to the World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas which kicked off this week. Pros such as Peter Eastgate, Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem and Greg Raymer have all won WSOP main events in the past, and they will be joined by other top players such as Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier.
