Planet Poker Summary

PlanetPoker boasts that it is the first (established 1998) and most trusted card room on the internet. Although I'm not sure about the "most trusted" part, PlanetPoker was one of the pioneers in this industry. However, since then, PlanetPoker has done little to establish itself as one of the big boys. PlanetPoker is part of the United Poker Network, which also includes VIP Poker. Establishing a network and allowing other skins to contribute to the player action will be the only way that Planet Poker survives. Hopefully, VIP Poker and other future skins will ensure the viability and growth of this network.

Planet Poker offers a good range of games, the usual Holdem poker as well as Omaha Hi & Hi/Lo, Studi Hi & Hi/Lo and draw variants.

The financial side of PlanetPoker is handled by "PlanetPSECash". Deposit options do NOT include credit/debit card which means you will need to have one of the following internet based accounts in order to play here; Neteller, Click2Pay, Nexum, FirePay. You can also use bank wire, Cheque or Western Union if you prefer.

Planet Poker Games Available

Planet Poker has a very good game selection, including Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha (8 or Better), Seven Card Stud, Stud (8 or Better), Razz, Lowball, and Draw Poker. However, you might have trouble finding a table for non-Hold'em games except during peak hours. The size of their table stakes are decent for playing at the lower limits, ranging from $0.05/$0.10 to $15/$30.

Planet Poker Pros & Cons

Pros: Nice interface with lots of customisable options. Twin chat windows keep dealer/information and player chat separate which is good.
Cons: Very low user base. Around 600 online users even at peak times, often as low as just a couple of hundred. There is rarely more than one or two of each table type with any players on. Most action is on the free money tables. Tournaments are also very quiet and not very frequent.
